Duncan Scott McGregor Sr., 84, of Orrick, MO, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO, surrounded by his family.

Duncan was born July 12, 1936, in Aurora, Illinois to Harold and Virginia (Scott) McGregor. He was united in marriage to Peggy Sue Lana of Richmond, MO on Aug. 26, 1960. They had two children, Deborah Sue McGregor and Duncan Scott McGregor, Jr.

Duncan served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and was a very proud veteran. After he was discharged, he worked for Allis Chalmers in Independence, MO for 38 years before retiring in 1999. He then worked for Easley's Auto Auction for many years after he retired. Back in the day, he served as the Municipal Judge in Orrick for several years as well. Duncan loved to stay busy. He loved to garden, spending many hours out there making his the biggest and best it could be.  He was very talented at wood working, making many items that we will always cherish from him. He also enjoyed painting, reading, watching old westerns, spending time with family and he especially enjoyed either a beer, or his nightly glass of E & J Brandy (or both).

Duncan was a member of the Orrick Christian Church.

Duncan was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sisters, Mary Ann Franklin, and Normal Lou Piepergerdes, his brother, Harold David McGregor, a niece, Susan McGregor, and a very special aunt, Eva Riddell.

He leaves many loved ones behind. His wife Peggy of the home; a son, Duncan Scott McGregor Jr. (Laura) of Orrick; daughter Debbie McGregor of Orrick; five grandchildren, Duncan (Trey) Scott McGregor III (Liea) of Richmond, MO, Nathan (Sammie) McGregor of Orrick, Amanda McGregor of Orrick, Andrew Stockton of Independence, Rainna Stockton of Orrick; one great-granddaughter, Pauline Mae McGregor of Orrick; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte McGregor of Lee's Summit. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life open house will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Community Center in Orrick, MO from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a short service with full military honors being done across the street at the Veterans Memorial Flag at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be sent to either the Community Center in Orrick, MO, or the American Cancer Society, in memory of Duncan McGregor, Sr.
