McGaugh outlines Healthy SNAP delay, legislative update

The statewide rollout of Missouri’s Healthy SNAP initiative has been delayed by several months after the Missouri Department of Social Services extended the program’s implementation date to Feb. 15, 2027.

The program, established through Executive Order 25-30 signed by Gov. Mike Kehoe in September 2025, was originally scheduled to launch in October 2026. According to District 7 state Rep. Peggy Mc-Gaugh’s

June Capitol report, the initiative is designed to encourage healthier food choices by promoting nutritious foods, discouraging products high in added sugars and ultra-processed ingredients and supporting Missouri agriculture.

In her report, Mc-Gaugh noted the Department of Social Services extended the timeline to allow additional time to prepare for the program’s rollout.
