Billy Misenhelter
Billy Gene (Mise) Misenhelter passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at his home in Richmond, surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born in Polo to Vivian (Bowers) Misenhelter and Leonard Misenhelter. Both preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Susie Misenhelter; children, Aaron (Lori) Misenhelter, Vincent (Mindy) Green and Kathy (Robert) Beaird; and grandchildren, Lindsay (Canaan) Adams, Dakota Young, Mack Misenhelter, Brandon Hendricks, Caden Hendricks, Kendra Green, Dominic Beaird, Gage Green and Abbie (Josh) Todd. Other survivors include his great-grandchildren, Emmitt Adams, Quinley Adams, Olivia Todd, Scarlett Todd and Bo Todd; and siblings, Nancy (Larry) Paul, Jim (Lana) Misenhelter and Lorraine (John) Smith.
In 1966, Billy graduated from Richmond High School and went straight into the U.S. Air Force, where he served in munition maintenance. He spent 1½ years in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
After the military, Billy spent 28 years in the insurance industry. Later, he served in banking and as a real estate broker.
In 1978, Billy served as president of the Richmond Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He also was a lifelong member to American Legion Post 237 and VFW Post 4398.
Billy loved to fish and hunt, but mostly spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with military honors to be provided by the Air Force.
