A Richmond alumna provided the final run of Rockhurst University’s softball season. Kaylee Pugh, a 2024 high school graduate and sophomore at Rockhurst, swatted a no-out, right-field solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning of the Hawks’ 9-4 loss to McKendree University Sunday in NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament action. Pugh’s stat line for the meeting at Bearcat Field in Lebanon, Ill., also included two runs scored and a walk. Pugh and her Rockhurst teammates finished 38-21. Those 38 victories are the most in school history, university information states. Other achievements this season included a first-ever Grand Lakes Valley Tournament crown and a first-ever appearance in Midwest Regional competition. The Hawks went 3-2 in the regional. They dropped their opener and won three straight before being eliminated.
