Norman McGaugh

Norman Lee McGaugh, 77, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Ray County Hospital and Healthcare in Richmond. Norman was born July 10, 1948, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Estil Madison and Mabel Lucille (Hankins) McGaugh. He was united in marriage to Linda Lea Kienitz of Dockery on Jan. 14, 1967. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his children, Shonda Mc-Gaugh of Richmond, Travis (Kathy) McGaugh of Richmond and Trent (Jessica) McGaugh of Rayville. He also is survived by his grandchildren: Melissa (Dustin) Eckert of Richmond; Samantha (Joseph) Kostelac of Kansas City; Hannah (Stephen) Murray of Kearney; Tyler (Haley) McGaugh of Richmond; Bailey (Max) Blair of Rayville; Harley Mackey of Creve Coeur, Ill.; Kaylea McGaugh of Richmond; Paige McGaugh of Richmond; and Tristan McGaugh of Rayville.

Other survivors include his great-grandchildren: Lilianna Murray, Alexandria Murray, Sophia Horton, McKynleigh Murray, Elexus Manley, Lincoln Murray, Karson McGaugh, Marshall McGaugh, Paisleigh Blair, Kilo Kostelack, Kade Blair and Riddoc Myers. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shannon McGaugh; daughter, Misty Nolker; and brother, Roger McGaugh.

After Norman married, he and his wife made their home in Richmond, where they built a life centered around faith, family and hard work. Raised in a rural community, Norman carried those smalltown values with him throughout his life. He was a dedicated employee of the Gilmore Co. in Excelsior Springs, faithfully serving the company for 40 years until his retirement.

Away from work, Norman found great joy in camping, horses and spending time with those he loved most. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his family was the center of his life, and he treasured every moment shared with them.

Norman was a man of strong faith. His kindness, steady presence and love for his family will be remembered always.

Public visitation was scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date.
