Bridge projects advance across Ray amid rising costs
Bridge projects across Ray County continue to move through various stages of planning and design, with one proposed replacement now estimated at approximately $625,000 as officials assess next steps.
Ray County Commissioners reviewed several bridge project updates during a recent meeting, including a proposed replacement on West 84th Street, ongoing work on Myers Bridge, a project on West 216th Street and potential demolition options for the Henrietta overpass.
The proposed replacement of the West 84th Street bridge is expected to be significantly larger than initially planned, driving up projected costs as engineers continue to refine the design.
Great River Engineering Project Manager Zach Olivas explained the increase is tied to conditions at the site, where the creek channel is deeper than originally anticipated, requiring a longer structure to meet standard design requirements.
