Head Start educator marks 40 years of impact
For four decades, one person has quietly shaped the early learning experiences of hundreds of children in the community through Head Start.
Kelly Rardon has spent four decades working at the Richmond Head Start Center — part of the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency — helping prepare young children and their families for school and beyond.
Rardon emphasized the relationships with children and families have kept her in the classroom for four decades, along with the opportunity to watch growth unfold over time.
“I like working with them and I like all the progress that I see, not only in the children, but in their families too,” said Rardon.
That sense of progress, she said, continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of the job, especially in the small, everyday moments that show how much a child is learning and changing.
