Additional survivors include her two daughters, Dawn (Greg) Mar‑ing of Gravois Mills and Paige (Gary) Wheeler of Lee’s Summit; and four grandchildren, Austin (Daniela) Maring, Katelyn (Justin) Nuck‑olls, Lauden (Mikala) Wheeler and Blaine (Jessica) Wheeler. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren: Harrison and Sophia (Austin and Daniela) Mar‑ing, Jade and Blair (Katelyn and Justin) Nuckolls, and Kash (Lauden and Mikala) Wheeler.

She also is survived by a brother, Cleatus Burnine of Richmond; a brother-in-law, Jim Leach of Hardin; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Burnine of Blue Springs; a nephew; and many nieces, great-nieces and nephews.

Terrie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Henry “Hank” Bur‑nine and Robert Wayne Burnine; two sisters, Sherivan McGill and Bonnie Leach; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Burnine and JoAnn Burnine.

Terrie graduated in 1962 from Richmond High School. She attended college at the Uni‑versity of Missouri and University of Central Missouri.

Terrie was a homemaker, then worked outside the home when her daughters became school age. She was employed at Harry Smith’s Men’s Wear and MFA, and ultimately retired from Shelter Insurance in Higginsville.

Terrie loved her family and friends. She had a knack for making things “look pretty.” She could transform any space in no time by adding color, style and lots of “pretties” to admire. She took great joy in helping friends and family decorate and re-decorate their homes. Birthdays and holidays were al‑ways made extra special, and she captured those precious memories with endless photos, which she stored in albums for her children and grandchildren to reflect on with love. Her family was her world.

Terrie also was blessed with a special group of “sister friends.” Those girlfriends were and have remained Elvis Presley’s biggest fans. Together, those girls faithfully watched as Elvis “shook up” the world on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” and their bond has been strong and true for more than 75 years.

In retirement, Terrie and Donnie made countless trips, attending a variety of their grand‑children’s activities as their biggest fans and supporters.

In 1999, Terrie and Donnie moved to their home on the Lake of the Ozarks in Gravois Mills. Terrie loved for her family and friends to visit, especially her grandchildren, and most recently, great-grandchildren.

Terrie had a passion for travel, making many memories with family and friends traveling throughout the United States and to a number of other countries.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Compassus Hospice. Contributions can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
