Police investigation finds no wrongdoing in Dear Elementary incident
Concerns circulating on social media regarding a recent incident at Dear Elementary School involving a young child prompted a police investigation, which found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
The Richmond Police Department released a statement last week addressing the incident reported on March 24, following allegations circulating publicly about actions taken by school health staff during their response to a student complaint.
According to the release, the student had reported discomfort and itching in a sensitive area while at school.
“The Richmond Police Department is aware of concerns circulating on social media regarding an incident involving a student at Dear Elementary School,” the release states. “On March 24, a report was received regarding allegations a ‘vaginal examination’ had been conducted on a child at the school. An officer conducted a follow-up investigation, which included speaking with the child’s parent and school administration.”
