Community dinner returns to Richmond Christian Chapel
A shared meal has become a tradition at Richmond Christian Chapel, where volunteers prepare soups and chili each year with a simple goal: bringing neighbors together around a table at no cost.
The dinner will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Richmond Christian Chapel, 801 Wollard Boulevard and is open to the public at no charge. Organizers say the event, now in its seventh year, regularly draws around 100 to 150 people for an evening of food, music and fellowship.
“We wanted to bless the community with something where we could gather together all of the churches and people, no charge, and just reach out to people,” said Pastor Bill Purcell.
Purcell added the focus on fellowship comes from a belief that sharing a meal can help build connections among neighbors who may not otherwise meet.
