Public Works backup secured, Eagleton grant approved
Two used vehicles will soon be added to Richmond’s Public Works fleet, giving city crews additional backup when responding to water leaks and winter weather.
City Council members recently approved the purchase of a 2013 bucket truck and a 2016 Freightliner dump truck, which is equipped with a new bed and hydraulic system.
Public Works Director Dale Shipp noted the additional equipment will help crews manage overlapping seasonal demands, particularly when snow operations coincide with water line repairs.
“I think that’s going to be a real good addition for us – that we have a backup, especially when trying to work water leaks with plows hanging off the front,” explained Shipp.
Shipp said the equipment became available shortly after council action at a previous meeting, allowing staff to inspect the vehicle before moving forward with the purchase.
“It just fell into place,” stated Shipp.
