Unsolved 1997 ‘missing person’ revisited

For almost 30 years, the case of a 14-year-old Richmond girl who went missing has remained unsolved. This week, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) came to the community to revisit the case. The visit centers on the disappearance of Racheal Hayson, who left her family’s residence in Richmond on June 20, 1997, following a disagreement with her mother. She was 14 years old at the time and has not been seen or heard from since. At the time of Hayson’s disappearance, her mother believed her daughter would return home, but she never did, according to NCMEC Director of Communications Angeline Hartman.
