City council approves code, infrastructure actions

After a multi-year review and organization process, Richmond officials formally adopted an ordinance that will consolidate the city’s general and permanent ordinances into a single, updated legal framework. Council approval enacts the “Code of Ordinances of the City of Richmond” as the city’s official code of ordinances. Under the ordinance, the codified code supersedes the city’s other general and permanent ordinances passed on or before March 25, 2025, to the extent provided in the ordinance. The measure repeals ordinances of a general and permanent nature adopted on final passage on or before March 25, 2025, that are not included in the codified code or continued in force by reference.
