Courthouse safety system proposed

Ray County commissioners are weighing a proposal to install a new security camera system at the courthouse and other county buildings following a series of recent threats and security incidents. Ray County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David Francken told commissioners he was asked to develop a courthouse security plan after multiple incidents required law enforcement to secure the building. “In the past, since I’ve been here, we’ve had some bomb threats and things like that that the sheriff’s office has taken care of,” said Francken. “I have been asked to try to put a security system of cameras around the courthouse.” Francken noted the request came from multiple county offices, including the prosecutor and public administrator offices, Ray County Museum and the Eagleton Center.
