Parents gain insight into youth substance trends

From discreet nicotine pouches to high-potency THC products, the substances available to youth today are changing rapidly. A recent virtual workshop focused on helping parents understand what those changes mean and how early prevention can reduce risk. The session was part of a three-part winter education series offered for parents and caregivers through Beacon Mental Health, designed to strengthen prevention efforts by explaining what products are on the market, how youth are being targeted and what trusted adults can do to intervene early. The recent workshop, titled “Preventing a New Generation of Addiction”, emphasized replacing fear-based reactions with clear data, practical context and consistent communication.
