Some people move through Christmas with an ease that feels almost unreal. The season starts and they seem to fall into it without hesitation, as if the decorating and planning and celebrating come with instructions the rest of us never received. From a distance, it all looks effortless. Up close, most families know that this time of year rarely moves that smoothly.
For many, the pressure settles in long before December reaches full speed. A school reminder about a classroom activity or a flyer for a fundraiser can be enough to shift the air in a house that is already stretched thin. Lights begin appearing on porches and along streets and the season announces itself, whether anyone feels ready or not. Christmas has a way of showing its weight before it ever shows its sparkle.
