Judge grants release in Ray County harassment case
A Kansas City man has been released from custody despite two pending felony charges involving sexual images and harassment after the court was informed the victims no longer plan to cooperate in the prosecution.
Billy Ray Thompson, 30, is facing two felony charges, including nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images and first-degree harassment.
Earlier this week, Thompson first appeared before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori Baskins for a bond review hearing and asked the court to modify the conditions of his release. The court denied the request, ruling the existing bond of $20,000 and requirements were the least restrictive option available under the factors required by Missouri Supreme Court Rule 33. The hearing was continued and the bond was not changed at that time.
