Chili dinner brings community together

Ray Lodge #223 in Camden welcomed steady crowds and strong community support during its annual chili lunch and dinner, a longrunning tradition members say continues to bring friends and neighbors together for good food and conversation. Worshipful Master Bill French emphasized the lodge went into the event with optimism. “We had high expectations for turnout and of course, we would have been excited to have more there but we rate it as a success,” said French. Members did not conduct an exact count but estimated between 5060 people attended throughout the afternoon. This year’s event included updated recipes for both chili and soup. “We made some changes to both our chili and soup recipes this year and we received very positive responses from everyone,” said French. While the lodge did not advertise chili dogs or chili Frito pie, several guests tried them and asked for them to return in the future.
