‘MUCH DIFFERENT’ The Bearcats’ varsity 8-man football season isn’t necessarily getting easier, even though they’re facing a familiar opponent to start postseason play, Orrick coach Matt O’Dell suggested. Orrick is slated to face Northland Christian (3-5) in its District 4 opener Friday at Simmons Field. The Bearcats (2-7) downed the Scott Edmondsoncoached Trailblazers 50-30 Aug. 29 at Orrick in the regular-season opener for both teams. “Preparing for Northland in districts is much different than earlier in the year, when we played them in Week 1,” O’Dell stated Monday via email. “Coach Edmondson has done a great job coaching their team up, and they have improved each week of the season.” But Orrick has improved, too, according to Orrick. “Offensively, and defensively, we are playing at a faster speed,” he wrote.
