ONE OF THE BEST Richmond’s Karoline Dooley ended her junior season as one of the state’s elite high school golfers. Dooley placed sixth among 80-plus individual finishers at the Class 2 state tournament, which concluded Tuesday at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. She shot a 179 for the two-day competition – one stroke ahead of St. Charles Lutheran’s Emma Elizabeth Kombrink. Dooley shot an 86 (+14) for her first 18-hole, par-72 round of the tournament. She then shot a 93 (+21) Tuesday. With her overall score, Dooley helped Richmond shoot an 848 and finish seventh in the team standings. It was the Spartans’ first appearance at state as a girls team in several years. Lyla Best, Isabella Smith and Jazmyn Schroder also contributed to Richmond’s team score. Best, a sophomore, shot a 190 to tie John Burroughs’ Flynn Engelsmann for 22nd. Smith, a senior, placed 65th with a 221. Schroder, a junior, finished 86th with a 258.
