School FLEX program aims to boost attendance, job skills

Richmond High School seniors will soon have the chance to earn credit while gaining real-world experience through a new scheduling option that blends classroom learning with job or internship hours. Richmond High School leaders introduced the Spartan FLEX Program during the October 16 Board of Education meeting, outlining a scheduling option for seniors beginning in the second semester of the 2025–26 school year. High School Principal Brandon Quick noted the initiative will give eligible students “another pathway to success” while helping boost attendance and open elective opportunities for others. “It’s going to be a scheduling option that will be available to our seniors,” said Quick. “Students will attend school for the first four hours of the day, eat lunch and then go to an internship or job that can be strongly or loosely connected to their postsecondary goals.
