Steele honored with David Whitmer award
A tradition of honoring integrity and public service, lasting over a century, was recently upheld when a longtime Richmond resident was recognized for his many years of community service, leadership and goodwill.
Gregg Steele was presented with the 2025 David Whitmer Community Service Award during the eighth annual ceremony, held to celebrate residents who exemplify Whitmer’s lifelong example of honesty and civic commitment.
Jimmy Carter, a previous recipient and part of the award selection committee, opened the event by welcoming guests and recounting the story behind the award’s namesake.
“This award commemorates the lifelong example of community service and integrity exemplified by David Whitmer,” said Carter.
