State rep visits Richmond Council
Faith and accountability took center stage as State Representative Terry Thompson recently addressed the Richmond City Council, where he discussed state legislation, local tax restrictions and the importance of communication between the state and municipalities.
“I campaigned on, and I stress, I believe in faith and family,” said Thompson. “I am learning and know communication and building relationships are so important. A good example of that was this morning’s mayor’s prayer breakfast. I definitely see how the departments, staff, leaders and everybody communicate with the city and then also the relationships that all the departments have.”
Thompson noted his visit was intended to strengthen communication with the city and explain the difficulty of the recent legislative session.
“There were 1,700 bills filed by the House of Representatives,” explained Thompson. “There were 900 bills that were filed by the Senate and there was 42 that ended up on the governor’s desk.”
