Generator contract marks progress for 911 center

A $300,506 generator purchase will power Ray County 911’s new emergency facility, ensuring backup electricity as the multimillion-dollar project moves forward. The board approved the contract with Clifford Power after reviewing three competing proposals. Clifford will provide two 450-kilowatt units with a five-year warranty and a $4,564 annual maintenance contract for all units. Central Power submitted a $403,478 bid with a two-year, 3,000-hour warranty and maintenance costs of $3,045 per unit each year. Centric quoted $471,881 with a one-year warranty and $2,500 in annual maintenance per unit. Members compared costs, warranties, maintenance terms, fuel consumption at full load and installation responsibilities before voting to approve Clifford Power.
