Charges filed in dog attack that killed local man
A Richmond woman has been officially charged in connection with an August death involving dog bites.
Melissa L. Chambers is facing one felony count of owner or possessor of a dog biting a person, second or subsequent bite, resulting in death. She is also charged with one misdemeanor of abuse of an elderly, disabled or vulnerable person.
A criminal summons was issued to Chambers ordering her to appear for an initial appearance at 9: 30 a.m. on Oct. 14.
On Aug. 18, Richmond Police Department Officer Todd Herdman and Corporal Tommy Rodriguez
received a call about a dog bite. Prior to their arrival, Ray County Dispatch had advised the officers the reporting party had stopped answering questions and would not answer their calls back.
