Dooley leads Spartans to victory on return to ESGC

In 2023, as a first-year high schooler, Richmond’s Karoline Dooley played competitive golf at Excelsior Springs Golf Course. In 2025, as a junior at Richmond, Dooley returned, this time for a Sept. 3 varsity girls quadrangular with Excelsior Springs, Norborne and Lawson. And based on her score, she might say she felt right at home. Dooley shot a 41 (+5) for her nine-hole, par-36 round to finish as the medalist. In doing so, she helped the Spartans win the quadrangular with a team score of 196. “I was just kind of ready to go out and play – just see how the course felt,” Dooley said. The course reminded Dooley in many ways of her home course, Shirkey Golf Course, she said. “It is similar to Shirkey’s in some spots, in the aspects that I like,” Dooley said. But Excelsior Springs Golf Course is different in a few ways that Dooley appreciates. “Like, there’s no sand here, which is great,” she said. Another difference is the speed of the greens.
