Persell sees execution as key to defeating SJL
As is customary during the season, Richmond varsity coach Nick Persell had a word for the week for the Spartans to help them prepare this week to face St. Joseph Lafayette (0-1) Friday on the road in 11-man football action.
That word was “execute.”
“We just feel like, as long as we execute our jobs on both sides – offensively and defensively – we’ll be successful,” Persell said Monday by phone.
Persell liked the execution the Spartans (0-1) showed on offense Aug. 29 during the first half of their 49-22, season-opening road loss to Harrisonville. Specifically, they “executed really well” during their opening possession of the livestreamed Missouri River Valley Conference interdivisional tussle, he said.
