County bids farewell to veteran salesman
A longtime equipment salesman who has helped counties and road districts across the region secure the right machinery at fair prices is preparing to retire after nearly three decades, leaving behind a reputation for honesty, expertise and problem- solving.
Murphy Tractor Salesman Ben Aldrich, who covers 16 counties and has spent the last 10 years in equipment sales, told commissioners he will leave in January 2026, just short of his 69th birthday, after after nearly three decades with his company. He noted the decision came after a friend who owned the business died at 72.
Before selling equipment, Aldrich worked on the service side of the industry, giving him insight into keeping customers satisfied after the sale. He emphasized his approach has always been to address issues directly, without delay.
“The biggest thing is to just do what you say you’re going to do and take care of it,” stated Aldrich. “If they have an issue, just don’t ignore it.”
