Zoning commission backs venue use, reviews hardship cases

MIRANDA JAMISON A conditional use request for Crooked River Farm Weddings received a recommendation for approval, with zoning officials emphasizing the need for compliance and consistency in rural event operations. “We just got a notice they wanted us to zone for venue,” explained applicant Susan Hanson with the wedding venue. Planning and Zoning Administrator Stacy Wolf added, “Basically, it’s just to bring that into compliance like everybody else has done.” Wolf stated there had been no complaints or phone calls about the property. “They own quite a bit of acreage around where they’re at out there,” said Wolf. Hanson said the business has been open 12 years. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend the conditional use permit for final approval by the County Commission.
