Community Connections series continues with potato recipes

As part of its ongoing Community Connections series, Special Needs Services (SNS) has been helping local residents learn to cook healthy meals using produce grown in its Southpoint Drive garden. The seasonal series, hosted in partnership with the Ray County Library and the Salvation Army, pairs live cooking demonstrations with easy, affordable recipes that feature whatever is ripe in the garden. SNS Director Suzan Breen and staff guided attendees through each recipe step by step, sharing tips on preparation, nutrition facts and encouragement. Guests received printed handouts to take home and had the opportunity to sample each dish. The organization is committed to making the recipes accessible to the public. One recipe prepared during the event was a cold potato salad adapted from “Instant Pot Obsession” by Janet Zimmerman.
