Editor’s note: This is the final of a two-part series about Missouri Valley Community Action Agency’s programs in Ray County. Part one focused on early education, childcare and family support services, including Early Head Start, Head Start and SkillUP. Part two highlights utility assistance, home weatherization, community partnerships and ongoing needs such as transportation, donations and volunteers. In addition to its early education programs, Missouri Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) provides critical support for families in Ray County through energy assistance, home weatherization and partnerships that help meet basic needs. MVCAA Family Advocate Connie Yoakum noted while the agency’s services begin with pregnancy and preschool, they extend far beyond the classroom.
