Officials take action on finances, projects

Richmond City Council agreed to hire a veteran municipal finance consultant to help stabilize its budgeting and audit processes, committing up to $20,000 over the next three months — 24 visits — to address long-standing internal issues. “With the approval of the finance committee, we’d like to hire Jeana Woods, who has a lot of municipal experience,” said Councilmember Deanna Guy. “She will come in and work with Misti Holloway (Finance Director) in supporting and tracking her for the big job that she has.” Woods will work two days a week under a short-term contract with Interim Solutions. Officials noted her work will support ongoing budget track- ing, audit preparation and cleanup from past reporting problems. “This will take us into clean-up of all the things and issues with budgeting,” explained Guy.
