Hardin man faces child endangerment charge
A Hardin man has been granted a bond modification after being held without bond on a felony charge stemming from what deputies described as a serious safety risk.
James A. Jones, 45, is charged with one felony count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, creating a substantial risk, no sexual contact. He appeared in custody before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Kelly Rhodes for an arraignment hearing this week, represented by private attorney Anthony Joseph Sicola. Jones waived his right to a formal reading of the charge and had been in custody since June 27.
Sicola told the court there was a joint recommendation to set bond at $30,000 cash or surety and requested Jones be allowed to have contact with the alleged victim, who is his son, as long as it was lawful. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tara Medlin agreed to the bond amount and stated she was not opposed to the contact and restriction.
