CHAMPION Jacob Johnson ended his high school track and field career at Richmond as a state champion. Johnson, who formally graduated May 9 and has signed to attend and compete in men’s track and field at Pittsburg (Kan.) State University, won the boys triple jump at the Class 3 state meet. He was one of two Richmond boys to receive a medal at the May 23-24 competition in Jefferson City. Brice Dome also received a medal, placing seventh in the triple jump. Per Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations, the top eight finishers in each event were awarded a medal. Johnson and Dome were among four state qualifiers for the Richmond boys, who finished in a three-way tie with Clever and Hermann for 24th in the team standings with 12 points. Malikiah Tharp and Nathan Nichols took 14th in the 200-meter dash and javelin, respectively. Kaylee King was Richmond’s lone girls qualifier, placing second in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump. WE’RE NO. 1! …
