Summers finds ‘home’, extends cheer career at WJC

When Richmond High School alumni Layne Cavanah, Hayden Happy and Travis Cardwell suit up for football this fall at William Jewell College, they’ll have another Richmond grad cheering for them on the sidelines. As the Richmond News recently reported, Lily Summers has signed a letter of intent to join the cheerleading squad at William Jewell, where she’ll perform during football and basketball games. Based in Liberty, William Jewell is a private NCAA Division II school. Its graduates include current Richmond varsity football coach Nick Persell. Summers, who graduated this month from Richmond and was a cheerleader for much of her time there, acknowledged William Jewell wasn’t her initial choice.
