After decades of supporting local businesses and community initiatives, the Lawson Chamber of Commerce will officially close its doors on June 4. The decision follows a meeting on May 7, during which members discussed the organization’s future. A motion was made to cease operations due to dwindling participation and interest. The vote passed, setting in motion the chamber’s dissolution. Members currently enrolled in the Chamber’s health insurance program will need to join another local Chamber to maintain their benefits. Qualifying Chambers must be affiliated with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce. Nearby options include Excelsior Springs, Kearney and Lathrop. Remaining Chamber funds will be distributed within the Lawson community. Members are invited to submit suggestions for potential recipients by emailing lawsonmococ@ gmail.com.
