‘A HIGHER LEVEL’
Richmond senior Kaylee King looks forward to pushing herself in a few months.
As the Richmond News recently reported, King has signed a letter of intent to attend and compete in women’s track and field at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg. She plans to be a hurdler and jumper there, she said.
“I’m very excited,” King said March 21. “Being in high school, it’s been pretty easy for me. But I’m excited for the challenge of going to a higher level, and making friends.”
UCM was one of two universities King considered, she said. The University of Missouri-Kansas City was the other. She chose UCM, an NCAA Division II school, because it offered a better track career path “and it’s closer to me,” she said.
UCM also is the alma mater of Richmond boys and girls track coach David Rash. Rash was “real excited” to see one of his athletes sign to attend there.
