Tamala “Tammy” Y. Hannsz, 64, of Richmond died Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Ray County Hospital and Healthcare in Richmond. Tammy was born April 13, 1960, the daughter of Billy Lee and Genevie (Lang) Wilson. She was united in marriage to William “Jerry” Hannsz of Richmond on Feb. 14, 1999. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2017. Tammy is survived by three sons, Billy (Kristy) Wilson and Jeremy (Cassandra) Hayes and Keeton Hannsz, all of Richmond; and daughter, Lindsay LaBella (Kyle Lee) of Kansas City. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Owen Lee, Hannah, Haylee and Heather Hayes; and two sisters, Diana Payne and Penny (Scott) Schumaker.

She was preceded in death by her mother and husbands, Peter LaBella and William “Jerry” Hannsz.

Tammy was a devoted, compassionate nurse who dedicated her career to caring for others at Ray County Hospital.

Her love for children extended beyond her own family. She was a strong, loyal supporter of the Orrick R-XI School District, where many students affectionately called her “Mimi.”

Tammy’s greatest joy in life came from being a grandmother. She poured her heart into creating magical moments for her grandchildren, especially during the holidays, which she made unforgettable with her special touches and boundless love.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

A private family burial will be held at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
