Succeeding Dennis is ‘big thing’ for new golf coach
Murray Dennis’ presence is noticeable in Richmond’s boys golf program nearly a year after his retirement from teaching and coaching in the Richmond R-XVI School District.
One way it’s evident is with his successor – Brandon Rittmiller. A 2011 Richmond graduate, Rittmiller played for three seasons under Dennis, he recalled.
“Taking over for Murray is a big thing,” Rittmiller said March 20 during a practice at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.
Dennis taught Rittmiller a lot, Rittmiller said. He continues to teach Rittmiller.
“Still reach out to him daily, asking him questions on certain situations,” Rittmiller said.
Succeeding Dennis will be challenging, Rittmiller said.
“But I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
In addition, Rittmiller is thrilled to be coaching golf at his old high school.
