Three candidates are vying for one seat on the Ray County Hospital Board of Trustees, a fiveyear term. Richmond News asked the candidates a series of targeted questions to shed light on their policies and vision for the community. This effort aims to help voters understand the candidates’ positions on key issues, enabling them to make informed decisions on Election Day. The three candidates are incumbent Lisa (Proffitt) Reed Nelson, Shari Renfro and Barbara Scowley. Nelson attended William Jewell College and earned a licenced practical nursing degree. Married to retired US Army serviceman SSG Larry Nelson, she is a lifelong resident of Ray County. The couple has four adult children and two grandchildren. Renfro is a 55-year-old native of Nodaway County. She grew up in rural Parnell, graduated from Northeast Nodaway High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
