Ray Rocks hours extension denied
Ray Rocks Off-Road Resort’s request to extend operating hours beyond the approved 10 p.m. cutoff has been denied.
Resort owners aimed to amend the existing conditional use permit to allow off-road machines to operate after the approved hours during specific events. The Ray County Commission voted 2-0 to deny the request, citing concerns about noise and disturbances to nearby residents. The decision followed extensive discussion and evaluation of the park’s operations.
“We did our due diligence and looked at this issue from all angles,” said Presiding Commissioner Shelia Tracy. “Ultimately, we felt that maintaining the 10 p.m. curfew was the best decision for the county.”
Representatives from Ray Rocks had requested all-night riding on select dates, arguing it was necessary to remain competitive with other parks in the region. However, commissioners were unconvinced, noting park officials admitted that only one or two riders would likely take advantage of the extended hours.
