Hearing canceled; prosecutor fails to show

A bond review hearing for a Wood Heights man facing seven felony charges in three separate cases has been canceled after neither the Ray County Prosecutor’s Office nor his special public defender appeared at the court hearing. James W. Woodruff Sr., 66, is facing seven felonies, including two counts of first-degree assault or attempt, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, assault damage to jail property and first-degree domestic assault, causing serious physical injury. Woodruff recently appeared via video; however, his special public defender, James L. Lasalle, and the Ray County Prosecutor’s Office failed to show. Due to this, Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Joseph Don McGaugh canceled the review hearing and continued it until 9 a.m. on March 21.
