Local fans gear up for big game

As the Kansas City Chiefs head to the Super Bowl once again, local fans are preparing in their own unique ways to cheer on their team. Equitable Advisors Managing Partner Troy Rust and his wife, Janna, plan to keep it low-key, watching the game at home. “One of us tends to have a first-half meltdown if things aren’t going well,” Rust said. They’ll stick to soft drinks—mostly Coke or Sprite—but might turn to a glass of wine or bourbon as the game progresses. Rust will be making his signature Velveeta Cheese and Sausage Dip, with an emphasis on the sausage. “I tend to wing it,” said Rust, sharing that his recipe includes a pound of Velveeta cheese, two pounds of Farmland sausage, a couple of cans of RO*TEL, and a container of Daisy sour cream, all served with Tostitos Scoops.
