Bearcats win late moments to edge Bulldogs

When Orrick needed players to make clutch plays in its 40-37 win over Hardin-Central in varsity boys basketball, Parker Floyd and Tucker Greer answered the call. Floyd first got the call when the Jan. 31 clash between the Missouri Highway 10 rivals at Hardin-Central was knotted at 33. The junior answered by sinking a threepoint shot with 1 minute, 56 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give the Bearcats the lead. “They (shots) weren’t falling at the beginning of the half – or (the) first half, really,” he said. “But we finally started getting shots to fall and … (they) really came in clutch.” Greer, a senior, got the call next. With the score 36-35 Orrick, he received a lob pass from Logan Smith and dropped in a layup with less than a minute left. “Logan just saw me on that backside while they were … fronting me on that post. … That’s a hard play to guard,” Greer said. “And that was just a beautiful pass by Logan.
