Emergency relief shelter concerns discussed

Concerns regarding the operational capabilities of the Eagleton Center as an Emergency Relief Shelter were shared with Ray County Commissioners during a recent meeting. During public comments, Ray County resident Brian Couch emphasized the urgent need for a generator, stating without it, the center would struggle to fulfill its role in times of crisis effectively. Couch said electrical outages frequently occur during severe weather events and having a generator would ensure the shelter could provide essential services such as heating, cooling and medical support to those in need. In addition, Couch urged the county to prioritize the licensing and set up of an emergency management trailer at the Eagleton Center. He explained that this equipment would enhance the center’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities, allowing for a more organized and efficient operation.
