At the dawn of the 1900s, Hardin was a thriving hub of activity, having enjoyed three decades of growth and prosperity. The town boasted a robust economy, supported by three well-established banks that catered to the financial needs of its residents and businesses. Five grocery stores lined the bustling streets, offering a variety of goods to the community, from fresh produce to household essentials. Two welcoming hotels provided comfortable accommodations for travelers passing through, while two depots stood ready to serve the railroads that crisscrossed the town, connecting Hardin to distant destinations.
