Aug. 10, 1935-Dec. 22, 2024 Glendell (Swafford) Ambrose, 89, of Miller Township, Huntingdon, Penn., went to be with her Lord Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024.

She was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Richmond to Virgil and Evelyn Swafford. A 1953 graduate of Richmond High School, Glen attended business school, graduating with honors.

She worked at a number of businesses in the Kansas City metro area, including the Kansas City Board of Trade, before meeting her future husband and lifelong partner Bernie and eventually settling in Ridgway, Penn., for nearly 40 years. During that period, she was the executive director of the American Heart Association and a case manager with the Elk County Board of Assistance Offce. After retirement, they returned to Huntingdon County to be closer to family and all things Penn State.

Glen was an avid golfer, and enjoyed reading and playing cards with her friends.

Glen is survived by her son, Bret (Brenda) of Prairie Village, Kan.; and daughter, Amy of Richmond, Va. Other survivors include her beloved mini golden-doodle, “Nittany”; brother, James Swafford (Phyllis) of Odenton, Md.; sister, Rovena Claxton (James) of Grand Marais, Minn.; and many friends and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Ambrose; parents; and stepfather, Harold Spalding.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 27, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with Pastor Joshua Massey offciating. A private burial ceremony for the family followed in Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends that memorial contributions (if desired) be made to the Huntingdon Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 1665; or the American Cancer Association.
