JENKINS AND CO. RING OUT 2024
LEXINGTON - Isabella Jenkings rang out the old year by bringing home the silver.
Jenkins, a first-year high schooler at Richmond, placed second in the 115-pound division Dec. 28 at a tournament hosted by Lexington High School – Richmond’s final girls wrestling competition of 2024. She went 2-1 in a roundrobin format. The first of her two victories came against Kylee Ruth of Oak Park, a Kansas City-based school, with a third-period pin. After dropping a 6-2 decision to eventual division champion Lillah Shue of Excelsior Springs, Jenkins finished by pinning Harrisonville’s Hannah Larkworthy in the second period.
Jenkins was among a trio of top-three finishers for the Spartans, who placed seventh in the team standings with 36 points. First-year high schoolers Holly Meredith and Taylor Baker placed third at 105 and 155, respectively.
Meredith went 2-2, winning her first two matches by pin. Baker went 1-2, winning her final match by pin.
