Orrick’s varsity girls and boys basketball programs took on the big girls and boys to finish 2024. Or rather, some bigger girls and boys. Before entering the holiday break, the Bearcats hosted two Class 3 programs – Lathrop Dec. 17 and Lexington Dec. 19. Orrick is a Class 1 school. The Bearcats were swept in both girls-boys doubleheaders. Lathrop won the girls game 53-15 and the boys game 71-49. Sparked by a 20-6 first quarter, Lexington won the girls game 68-30. Lexington took control of the boys game with a 21-4 second quarter and finished with a 75-29 victory. The Orrick girls closed the 2024 portion of their schedule 3-6 overall. The boys finished 2-7. Both programs are slated to open 2025 Jan. 7 at Alma against Santa Fe in an I-70 Conference girls-boys doubleheader.
