Foul shots help RHS boys husk LC
HIGGINSVILLE – Dryden Hendrix would probably say he has shot his share of free throws during his boys basketball career.
Until Dec. 14, however, the Richmond sophomore had admittedly never shot eight straight foul shots resulting from multiple technical fouls.
Hendrix’s opportunity occurred with 1 minute, 36 seconds left in Richmond’s Husker Classic title game with Lafayette County of Higginsville. As livestreamed and on-demand video from the clash on the Lafayette County C-1 campus shows, fellow Spartan Gabe Johnson was knocked to the floor during the fight for a defensive rebound. A scuffle ensued, resulting in four technical fouls called against Lafayette County.
Johnson was awarded two shots from drawing a foul, sinking one. Hendrix then attempted his eight shots, sinking six. In making the last two, he helped capped Richmond’s 68-51 victory.
